Floating Type Pneumatic Fender Marine Boat Vessel Rubber Fender Made In China
Pneumatic Fender
Pneumatic fender was developed in Japan in 1958. The pneumatic fenders should be manufactured according to ISO 17357. The standard defines the corresponding international standards for the materials and testing of these fenders. In most cases, the pneumatic fenders should be surrounded by tires and chains to provide additional protection. The fender can also be reinforced with rubber ribs(rib fender) without tires and chain mesh (sling fender).
Fully compliant with the ISO17357 standard, Jerryborg’s pneumatic fender supplies with a variety of specifications and dimensions to meet customer’s requests and different application conditions.
Pneumatic fender advantage
1. Lower Reaction Force with Excess Load
When the pneumatic fender receives excess load suddenly, it can still perform well. The reaction force will not increase sharply compared with solid fenders as follows.
2. Relatively Low Economic Cost
With the advantage of compressive elasticity of air, the surface pressure of pneumatic fenders is completely uniform, which is equal to the internal air pressure and makes it popular with LNG-ship terminals.
Pneumatic Fender Classification
Pneumatic fenders are produced with two initial pressure ratings, which are pneumatic 50 (P50, initial internal pressure 50kPa) and pneumatic 80 (P80, initial internal pressure 80kPa).
Pneumatic fenders are mainly classified into three types as follows:
1. Pneumatic fender with chain and tire net
With chain and tire net covering the fender body, the pneumatic fender can reduce the damage of friction and abrasion caused by direct contact. Therefore it’s widely used in places with complicated and unstable tide variation, such as ship-to-ship(STS) and ship-to-dock(STD) operations. In addition, as for the protective tire, Jerryborg offers four types of tires with different sizes and thicknesses for customers to choose from.
2. Sling type pneumatic fender
Sling type pneumatic fender will be connected with a guy chain or guy rope with a lifting device on both ends.
3. Hydro pneumatic type fender
Hydropneumatic fender is usually used as a bumper with submarines and other semi-submersible platforms. It can be installed vertically in the water cause it’s filled with air and water inside and equipped with a counterweight.
All these pneumatic fenders mentioned above are available usually in black, the color is also customized upon your request. Jerryborg offers pneumatic fenders with various sizes in diameter ranging from 500mm to 4500mm, length ranging from 1000mm to 9000mm.
4. Other types
Pneumatic Fender Structure
Pneumatic fender is composed of three vulcanized layers, each of which provides an important function in the structure and service life of the fender. The three layers are (1) the inner rubber layer, (2)the reinforced cord layer (3) the outer rubber layer.
The outer rubber layer uses special compounds that provide additional tensile strength and tear strength to protect the fender from severe weather conditions and frequent use, while the inner rubber layer is specially designed to seal the internal air and prevent any leakage, just like the inner tube of a tire. The reinforced layer is a composite tire cord with cross shadow lines, which is designed to distribute stress evenly.
Pneumatic Fender Application
1. Ship-to-ship transfer operations
2. Ship-to-ship services
3. Offshore platform defense
4. Ship berthing at the dock
5. Hang on the ship hull
