ABS Yokohama Pneumatic Rubber Fender for Corvette Ship & Frigate Best Selling Float Rubber Dashpot
Yokohama Fender
Yokohama fender was developed in Japan in 1958. The fenders should be manufactured according to ISO 17357. The standard defines the corresponding international standards for the materials and testing of these fenders. In most cases, the product should be surrounded by tires and chains to provide additional protection. The fender can also be reinforced with rubber ribs(rib fender) without tires and chain mesh (sling fender).
Yokohama Fender Application
1. STS sea transport.
2. Double banking and ships berthing at docks /jetty.
3. Oil and gas carriers.
4. Temporary and permanent installation.
5. Quick response and emergency.
6. Liquid cargo and naval defense ships.
Yokohama Fender Structure
Yokohama pneumatic fender is composed of three vulcanized layers, each of which provides an important function in the structure and service life of the fender. The three layers are (1) the inner rubber layer, (2)the reinforced cord layer (3) the outer rubber layer.
The outer rubber layer uses special compounds that provide additional tensile strength and tear strength to protect the fender from severe weather conditions and frequent use, while the inner rubber layer is specially designed to seal the internal air and prevent any leakage, just like the inner tube of a tire. The reinforced layer is a composite tire cord with cross shadow lines, which is designed to distribute stress evenly.
Yokohama Fender Classification
Yokohama pneumatic fenders are produced with two initial pressure ratings, which are pneumatic 50 (P50, initial internal pressure 50kPa) and pneumatic 80 (P80, initial internal pressure 80kPa).
Yokohama pneumatic fenders are mainly classified into three types as follows:
1.Yokohama Fender with Chain and Tyre Net
With chain and tire net covering the fender body, the Yokohama fender can reduce the damage of friction and abrasion caused by direct contact. Therefore it’s widely used in places with complicated and unstable tide variation, such as ship-to-ship(STS) and ship-to-dock(STD) operations. In addition, as for the protective tire, Jerryborg offers four types of tires with different sizes and thicknesses for customers to choose from.
2. Sling Type Yokogama Fender
Sling type Yokohama fender will be connected with a guy chain or guy rope with a lifting device on both ends.
3. Hydro Pneumatic Type Yokohama Fender
Hydropneumatic Yokohama fender is usually used as a bumper with submarines and other semi-submersible platforms. It can be installed vertically in the water cause it’s filled with air and water inside and equipped with a counterweight.
All these fenders mentioned above are available usually in black, the color is also customized upon your request. Jerryborg offers best-selling inflatable rubber fenders with various sizes in diameter ranging from 500mm to 4500mm, length ranging from 1000mm to 9000mm.

Yokohama Fender Advantage
1. Safe and Reliable
The Yokohama pneumatic fender is made of several strong cord layers to enable it to be pressure-resistant and puncture-resistant. The fender whose diameter is over 2.5m is equipped with a safety valve to release the air inside in case it’s overpressured. The diagram below shows the data variations at different percentage compressions.
2. Tide Adaptation
The Yokohama pneumatic fender is filled with pressure air inside that makes it flexible and easy to float on the water and adapt to the tide variation.
