What is Foam Fender?
Foam fender is a floating type fender using lightweight and high elasticity foam as a buffer medium to absorb impact energy. It's composed of a closed-cell EVA core and an outer polyurethane skin. Jerryborg foam fenders are an easy to use, low maintenance solution that provides many years of reliable service in cruise line operations. Easy to install, they offer a tough, heavy-duty fender solution for in-harbour, off-shore and ship-to-ship applications. Their resilient foam-filled construction provides an unsinkable fender body that permits high energy absorption with relatively low reaction force and hull pressures.
Foam fenders consist of three parts, including outer polyurethane layer, reinforced nylon cord fabric and internal polyethylene foam. The outer layer is strong enough to resist frictions and the inner closed-cell can stop any water permeating into the fender body.
As an alternative to the pneumatic rubber fender, foam fender is extremely durable. Moreover, without air inside, there's no risk of bursting or sinking. And it's widely used in harbor, offshore platforms, or ship to ship operations. Jerryborg's foam fenders are available in black and other customized colors upon the customer's request.
