Pneumatic Rubber Bumper
Pneumatic rubber bumper, also called Yokohama fender, has been used in port, harbor, and maritime operations for decades since it was developed in 1958. With the development of ship technology, this product is used extensively in ship-to-ship transfer operations and ship mooring and berthing operations. It’s always regarded as a buffer to reduce shock in between due to its excellent performance of great elasticity and abrasion-resistance.
Fully compliant with the ISO17357 standard, Jerryborg’s bumper supplies with a variety of specifications and dimensions to meet customer’s requests and different application conditions.
Pneumatic Rubber Bumper Advantage
1. Safe and Reliable
Pneumatic rubber bumper is made of several strong cord layers to enable it to be pressure-resistant and puncture-resistant. Its diameter is over 2.5m is equipped with a safety valve to release the air inside in case it’s overpressured. The diagram below shows the data variations at different percentage compressions.
2. No Variation or Deformation in Performance
Pneumatic rubber bumper is filled with the air of compressive elasticity inside, the deformation caused by fatigue is absent. In the experiment below of pneumatic fender, the performance variation will not happen if the pressure is maintained properly.
Our product remains the same without any variation or deformation even at temperatures under -50 degrees centigrade (-58 degrees Fahrenheit).
Pneumatic Rubber Bumper Classification
They are produced with two initial pressure ratings, which are pneumatic 50 (P50, initial internal pressure 50kPa) and pneumatic 80 (P80, initial internal pressure 80kPa).
They are mainly classified into three types as follows:
1. GL Pneumatic Rubber ballon with Chain and Tyre Net
With chain and tire net covering the fender body, GL Pneumatic Rubber ballon can reduce the damage of friction and abrasion caused by direct contact. Therefore it’s widely used in places with complicated and unstable tide variation, such as ship-to-ship(STS) and ship-to-dock(STD) operations. In addition, as for the protective tire, Jerryborg offers four types of tires with different sizes and thicknesses for customers to choose from.
2. Sling Type GL Pneumatic Rubber ballon
Sling type GL Pneumatic Rubber ballon will be connected with a guy chain or guy rope with a lifting device on both ends.
3. Hydro Pneumatic Type Yokohama Marine Fender
Hydro Yokohama rubber bumper is usually used as a bumper with submarines and other semi-submersible platforms. It can be installed vertically in the water cause it’s filled with air and water inside and equipped with a counterweight.
All these Yokohama marine pneumatic fenders mentioned above are available usually in black, the color is also customized upon your request. Jerryborg offers Yokohama marine pneumatic fenders with various sizes in diameter ranging from 500mm to 4500mm, length ranging from 1000mm to 9000mm.
4. Other Types
Pneumatic Rubber Bumper Structure
① Outer rubber layer
GL Pneumatic Rubber ballons are covered by the outer layer made of natural rubber. This rubber compound is strong enough to protect the inner layer and synthetic-cord layer from the damage of external forces and severe weather conditions due to its high elasticity and abrasion resistance.
② Synthetic-tire-cord layer
The Synthetic-tire-cord layer is made of synthetic-tire-cord fabrics, compared with synthetic canvas fabric and synthetic belt fabric, this reinforcement layer performs better in fatigue-resistance and pressure-holding.
③ Inner rubber layer
The inner layer is designed to seal the air inside the fender.
