ISO17357 Marine Fender for Yacht Good Performance Inflatable Fender
Marine Fender
Marine fender, also called Yokohama fender, has been used in port, harbor, and maritime operations for decades since it was developed in 1958. With the development of ship technology, this pneumatic fender is used extensively in ship-to-ship transfer operations and ship mooring and berthing operations. It’s always regarded as a buffer to reduce shock in between due to its excellent performance of great elasticity and abrasion-resistance.
Marine fenders are mainly divided into three types, including sling type, hydro-pneumatic type, and chain and tire net type. There are also other types like ribbed type, rope net type, and rubber tube rope type. Each type plays a critical role in protecting the safety of marine operations.
Fully compliant with the ISO17357 standard, Jerryborg’s fender supplies with a variety of specifications and dimensions to meet customer’s requests and different application conditions.
Marine Fender Structure
① Outer rubber layer
ISO17357 marine fenders are covered by the outer layer made of natural rubber. This rubber compound is strong enough to protect the inner layer and synthetic-cord layer from the damage of external forces and severe weather conditions due to its high elasticity and abrasion resistance.
② Synthetic-tire-cord layer
The synthetic-tire-cord layer is made of synthetic-tire-cord fabrics, compared with synthetic canvas fabric and synthetic belt fabric, this reinforcement layer performs better in fatigue-resistance and pressure-holding.
③ Inner rubber layer
The inner layer is designed to seal the air inside the fender.
Marine Fender Advantage
1. Safe and Reliable
The ISO17357 marine fender is made of several strong cord layers to enable it to be pressure-resistant and puncture-resistant. The fender whose diameter is over 2.5m is equipped with a safety valve to release the air inside in case it’s overpressured. The diagram below shows the data variations at different percentage compressions.
2. No Variation or Deformation in Performance
The ISO17357 marine fender is filled with the air of compressive elasticity inside, the deformation caused by fatigue is absent. In the experiment below of pneumatic yokohama type fender, the performance variation will not happen if the pressure is maintained properly.
Our fender remains the same without any variation or deformation even at temperatures under -50 degrees centigrade (-58 degrees Fahrenheit).
3. Relatively Low Economic Cost
With the advantage of compressive elasticity of air, the surface pressure of fenders is completely uniform, which is equal to the internal air pressure and makes it popular with LNG-ship terminals.
