Yokohama Type Pneumatic Fender
Yokohama type pneumatic fender, also called Yokohama fender, has been used in port, harbor, and maritime operations for decades since it was developed in 1958. Fully compliant with the ISO17357 standard, Jerryborg’s Yokohama type pneumatic fender supplies with a variety of specifications and dimensions to meet customer’s requests and different application conditions.
Yokohama type pneumatic fenders are divided into three types, including sling type, hydro-pneumatic type, and chain and tire net type. Each type plays a critical role in protecting the safety of marine operations.
With the development of ship technology, this Yokohama type pneumatic fender is used extensively in ship-to-ship transfer operations and ship mooring and berthing operations. It’s always regarded as a buffer to reduce shock in between due to its excellent performance of great elasticity and abrasion-resistance.
Yokohama Type Pneumatic Fender Structure
① Outer rubber layer
The outer rubber layer uses special compounds that provide additional tensile strength and tear strength to protect the fender from severe weather conditions and frequent use.
② Synthetic-tire-cord layer
The reinforced layer is a composite tire cord with cross shadow lines, which is designed to distribute stress evenly.
③ Inner rubber layer
The inner rubber layer is specially designed to seal the internal air and prevent any leakage, just like the inner tube of a tire.
Yokohama Type Pneumatic Fender Classification
Yokohama type pneumatic fenders are produced with two initial pressure ratings, which are pneumatic 50 (P50, initial internal pressure 50kPa) and pneumatic 80 (P80, initial internal pressure 80kPa).
Yokohama type pneumatic fenders are mainly classified into three types as follows:
1. Yokohama Type Pneumatic Fender with Chain and Tyre Net
With chain and tire net covering the fender body, the Yokohama type pneumatic fender can reduce the damage of friction and abrasion caused by direct contact. Therefore it’s widely used in places with complicated and unstable tide variation, such as ship-to-ship(STS) and ship-to-dock(STD) operations. Besides, as for the protective tire, Jerryborg offers four types of tires with different sizes and thicknesses for customers to choose from.
2. Sling Type Yokohama Type Pneumatic Fender
Sling type Yokohama type pneumatic fender will be connected with a guy chain or guy rope with a lifting device on both ends.
3. Hydro Pneumatic Type Yokohama Type Fender
Hydropneumatic Yokohama-type fender is usually used as a bumper with submarines and other semi-submersible platforms. It can be installed vertically in the water cause it’s filled with air and water inside and equipped with a counterweight.
All these Yokohama type pneumatic fenders mentioned above are available usually in black, the color is also customized upon your request. Jerryborg offers Yokohama type pneumatic fenders with various sizes in diameter ranging from 500mm to 4500mm, length ranging from 1000mm to 9000mm.
