Yokohama Rubber Bumper
Yokohama rubber bumpers are widely used for ship-to-ship transfer, double banking, and ship-to-dock berths. They are preferably used in ports where the tides vary greatly. Jerryborg's bumpers can be easily deflated, enabling simple and cost-effective relocation, providing protection in dock and ship-to-ship mooring scenarios. We offer products in various sizes, and they can also be fitted with tires or chain nets to provide additional protection.
Yokohama rubber bumpers is marine equipment used to prevent ships, ships, and other naval vessels from colliding with each other or crashing into docks, wharves, and piers. In other words, Yokohama pneumatic fenders can be simply called marine bumpers.
Yokohama Rubber Bumper Structure
① Outer rubber layer
Natant floaters are covered by the outer layer made of natural rubber. This rubber compound is strong enough to protect the inner layer and synthetic-cord layer from the damage of external forces and severe weather conditions due to its high elasticity and abrasion resistance.
② Synthetic-tire-cord layer
The reinforced layer is a composite tire cord with cross shadow lines, which is designed to distribute stress evenly.
③ Inner rubber layer
The inner rubber layer is specially designed to seal the internal air and prevent any leakage, just like the inner tube of a tire.
Yokohama Rubber Bumper Classification
Natant floaters are produced with two initial pressure ratings, which are pneumatic 50 (P50, initial internal pressure 50kPa) and pneumatic 80 (P80, initial internal pressure 80kPa).
Natant floaters are mainly classified into three types as follows:
1. Natant floater with Chain and Tyre Net
With chain and tire net covering the floater body, the natant floater can reduce the damage of friction and abrasion caused by direct contact. Therefore it’s widely used in places with complicated and unstable tide variation, such as ship-to-ship(STS) and ship-to-dock(STD) operations. In addition, as for the protective tire, Jerryborg offers four types of tires with different sizes and thicknesses for customers to choose from.
2. Sling Type Natant Floater
Sling type natant floater will be connected with a guy chain or guy rope with a lifting device on both ends.
3. Hydro Pneumatic Type Natant Floater
The natant floater is usually used as a bumper with submarines and other semi-submersible platforms. It can be installed vertically in the water cause it’s filled with air and water inside and equipped with a counterweight.
All these natant floaters mentioned above are available usually in black, the color is also customized upon your request. Jerryborg offers floaters with various sizes in diameter ranging from 500mm to 4500mm, length ranging from 1000mm to 9000mm.
