What is Yokohama Fender?
Yokohama fender is high strength, well manufactured and reliable floater. It has a fantastic design and versatile structure, and it can be fully applied with chain & tyre nets to suit a variety of inshore and offshore applications.
For Jerryborg, the development of Yokohama fender is closely related to the progress of ship technology, large gas carriers, bulk carriers and floating structures. Since its creation until today, Hundreds of fenders have been supplied worldwide for ship-to-ship and other operations in order to serve Jerryborg’s honored customers. These fenders have critical impact in the safe operation of ship berthing and mooring.
Pneumatic Fender Advantage
ISO 17357 certified
ISO17357:2002 is renewed as 1st edition of ISO17357-1:2014 to strengthen it standard concerning design, material and certification of floating pneumatic fender. The Qingdao Jerryborg Co., Ltd. confirms that its Pneumatic Rubber Fenders, Pneumatic P50 & P80, fully comply with all requirements of ISO17357-1:2014.
Safe and Reliable
Jerryborg’s Yokohama fender is made of several strong cord layers to enable it to be pressure-resistant and puncture-resistant. Its diameter is over 2.5m is equipped with a safety valve to release the air inside in case it’s overpressured. The diagram below shows the data variations at different percentage compressions.
Advantages at Inclined Berthing
In terms of solid rubber fenders or foam fenders, rated reaction force and energy absorption decreases at inclined compressions compared with parallel compression. To moderate the decrease of energy absorption at inclined compression, it is of great necessity to use larger sizes in the case of solid rubber fenders or foam fenders.
Chain tyre net and Sling type
Soft Reaction Force for Ship and Jetty Structure
All types of Jerryborg fenders should be used within their maximum load limit, but it often happens that fenders accidentally receive excess load. The reaction force of Yokohama Pneumatic Rubber Fenders does not increase sharply, even under excess load conditions. In contrast, the reaction force of solid rubber fenders increases sharply under excess load conditions.
Basic Construction of Yokohama Fender
It is made from inner rubber, synthetic-tyre-cord layer for reinforcement, outer rubber, flange opening and other metal parts.
The inner rubber is made from natural rubber with rubber content higher than 53%, which ensures the air retention of the pneumatic fender, and it can be used for a long time without obvious pressure relief. It is available in thickness from 2 to 4mm, which is determined according to the requirements of pneumatic rubber fenders of different specifications.
The synthetic-tyre-cord layer for reinforcement is gumming, and it features thick warps, competitive density and high strength. It is bonded with the inner and outer rubber after gumming, and then the three layers are bonded together after being vulcanized at high temperature. Therefore, the cord layer has high strength, abrasion and impact resistance, great thermostability, good adhesion with rubber, aging resistance and easy processing.
The outer rubber is mainly used to protect the reinforced layer and the inner rubber and further ensure the air retention of the Yokohma fender.
